Where Did All The Weights Go?!

At the start of this pandemic, I committed myself to being consistent in using our home gym. However, my dumbbells were too light for me (I have a 3lb set and an 8lb set). So I took to my trusted site - Amazon to get some new ones. Alas! I could not find any affordable ones, and further searches proved fruitless. Walmart, Dicks Sporting Goods, Target were all sold out. I guess i wasn't the only person with the bright idea of dong at-home workouts during this pandemic.

I decided to make the most of what I had, and I'm sharing some tips below. What is your goal with using dumbbells? Are you trying to tone your arms or get more definition? Here are some good alternatives that still achieve the same goal:

  • Do you know that you can still get toned and lean arms if you do high repetition and low weight exercises? Try a few sets of 12 reps with dumbbell curls, hammer curls, overhead triceps extensions, triceps kickbacks, and triceps dips with some 3-5lbs weights and see a difference in a matter of weeks.

  • Kettlebells are an alternative to dumbbells,  and Youtube has thousands of videos on #kettlebell arm exercises for all fitness levels.

  • Hello body resistance! There's no better alternative than using your body weight. Variations of #planks, #pushups, and #tricep dips. Personally, I find these harder to do than simply lifting heavier dumbbells, but here we are!

Are there some other alternatives than lifting heavy to get toned or defined arms? Please share below!
