Tips For Getting Your Kids To School On Time

Is it just me having a VERY hard time getting my kids to school on time?! I feel like as the weeks progress, I've been dropping them off at school later and later 😂.

Luckily for me, my kids are not in "real" school yet, so dropping them at school around 8:30 works for me LOL. I have a few months before my son starts Pre-K to get my act together, so here are some tips I have started implementing to ease me into getting them out of the door more timely:

  1. Set a Specific Time for Bed: I cannot begin to tell you how painful it is trying to wake up tired and sleepy kids in the morning. It's really in the best interest of all parties if your children go to bed at a specific time every night that allows them to get the recommended hours of sleep.

  2. Set Items Out the Night Before: This includes their school clothes, shoes, and breakfast.

  3. Grab and Go Breakfast: I typically grab something they can easily eat in the car like these fruit and veggie packs, granola bars, and a fruit, or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with these yoghurt squeezers, and these awesome non-spill plastic cups I got from Dollar Tree. Yes my car is always messy mostly because of their crumbs everywhere, but that's a blog post for another day 😂.

  4. Let Them Get Themselves Ready: I started teaching my kids to brush their teeth and remove their pajamas by themselves, which saves me a lot of time. You can turn it into a fun game or a competition - it works wonders!

  5. Give Yourself Grace: There are some days where you do all the above, but the odds will just not be in your favor. And that's ok. You did your best, and a few late attendance days is not the end of the world. Drop those kids off in school and treat yourself to some tea or coffee :)

Thanks for reading, I hope you found my tips helpful! I'd love to hear about any other tips you've tried that worked for you in getting your kids to school on time. XOXO - Nneka
