What better way to kick off Black History month than to be able to read to our kids and celebrate their awesomeness in the skin they are in - as written by their father 🤗. When they are older, I will be able to show them part of their family history and legacy sitting right there on their bookshelf.
According to the U.S Department of Education, “As parents, the most important thing we can do is read to our children early and often. Reading is the path to success in school and life. When children learn to love books, they learn to love learning.” (learn more)
One thing I love about the book series "Our Awesome Black Child" is that there are different versions - tailored to your family structure, including single parents. (click here for the Amazon link) . He also co-wrote My Talking Igbo Book (click here). Both books were designed by our amazingly talented friend @hellochristiana - check her out! Character illustrations by the super talented @mr_m.art .
