My Exercise Essentials

Alright guys! It looks like our new normal for the forseeable future involves a whole lot of mask wearing and more social distancing! Although I have a gym membership, I have chosen not to return there until I feel comfortable and it is safe to do so. Below, I'm sharing my exercise essentials with you, which won't leave you broke trying to buy expensive exercise equipment for your home gym!

Exercise Essential #1: Your Phone

Not what you were expecting right? LOL. Music is a MUST for me. I don't think i would be able to enjoy my workout or last long if not for music. Pandora or Youtube Music have great exercise playlists in all genres. If you don't have any exercise equipment at home, your phone can also serve this purpose. Just search on Youtube for body resistance workouts or a 2 or 3 mile walk workout video!

Exercise Essential #2: Heart Rate Monitor

I believe it's important to track your heart rate when exercising as well as how many calories you burn. If you don't have an Apple watch, below are some other heart rate monitors you can consider. I use the FitBit Versa.

Exercise Essential #3: Waist Trainer

Ok now I'm not referring to those waist trainers that suffocate you while also crushing your ribs LOL. I use a neoprene waist band from Sweet Sweat, which increases sweat production around my midsection. You can also check out some other ones below.

Exercise Essential #4: Energy

Yup! it's a no brainer that the more energy you have, the more intense you can work out and burn more calories. You don't have to work out for hours to burn those calories. A 20 to 30 minute workout with some HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) intervals will do the trick. I personally work out in the evenings after work, and I am usually drained by then. I can tell you that the last thing on my mind is going hard in the gym. I try to drink some caffeine or eat a little snack an hour before working out.

Exercise Essential #5: Headphones

How many times have you come close to tears when you're about to start exercising but realize that you left your headphones? I used to carry spare headphones in my gym bag just in case LOL. I use these bluetooth headphones from Bose, and their quality is still amazing after almost 4 years.
